This Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter offers active signal conversion, which helps overcome the limitation of some Mini DisplayPort video cards not being able to output a DP++ (multimode) signal. Active adapters are required when connecting 3 displays to a Mac Pro Tower w/ ATi Radeon 5770 Video Card. This adapter allows for 2 DVI based displays to be connected to the ATi 5770's built-in Mini DisplayPort connections, as well as a third display connected to the DVI port.
