What's The DV Shop All About?

When the DV Shop opened in May 2001, we began as a store dedicated and focused on digital video production, offering equipment for both shooting and editing. If you want to see what fun we had fixing up the store ourselves when we opened in 2001, check out the "before" and "after" pictures here.

In recent years, the digital revolution has changed both filmmaking and photography. Photographers are now making the leap to digital in greater numbers and are taking control of every aspect of the process from shooting to finishing and printing. Since many of our customers are both filmmakers and photographers, the DV Shop expanded it's focus to include digital photography equipment adding Canon and Nikon DSLRs and accessories to the product lines we carry.

At the DV Shop we try to offer an alternative to the high pressure big box retail model. Our store is a small boutique style environment where you can come in and try out our demo equipment in a relaxed, no-pressure atmosphere. We're here to answer questions and offer you the information you need to make your own purchasing decisions. If you want to see some of the questions we've been asked over the years you can visit our DV Shop Questions Hall of Fame here.

Recycling

At the DV Shop we try to keep our waste to a minimym so if you're one of our mail order customers you may have noticed that we recycle all the boxes and packing material we get from our suppliers. Sometimes we even get that recycled packing back when our customers send us packages. If you live in the Greater Toronto area and you ever need packing paper and boxes for your next big move give us a call. We've supplied many of our customers with recycled packing material.

We send all our computer recycling to reBOOT Canada in Toronto. reBOOT Canada is a national charity, which provides computer hardware, training and technical service to other charities, non-profit organizations and individuals with limited access to technology. reBOOT accepts donations of computer equipment from companies and individuals.  After refurbishing the equipment as much as possible,  it is distributed to organizations across Canada. Over 7,000 charities have received equipment from reBOOT.
