Data Rescue 3 by Prosoft - $119 - in stock

Data Rescue 3 is the best digital data recovery software on the market for recovering files from a problem hard drive or that have been previously deleted. Data Rescue 3 is for computer data recovery and works when other tools fail. Data Rescue 3 is also completely safe to use since it does not attempt any risky repairs to the drive it's scanning. Data Rescue 3 is the safest, most powerful software for data recovery. Data Rescue 3 is the same software used by many data recovery services, law enforcement, all major branches of the U.S. Military and major intelligence agencies. Data Rescue 3 has saved our customers from having to use a data recovery service, which can cost thousands.

You will need to save your recovered files to either an internal or external hard drive (USB or FireWire), removable media device (such as a Zip or MO) or a networked drive.

You may run Data Rescue 3 in two distinct ways, depending on your circumstances and what hard drive you need to recover.

1. You may run Data Rescue 3 as a normal application
This is the method you would choose if you are trying to recover files from a secondary hard drive (not your main hard drive). Here are the system requirements for running Data Rescue 3 as an application:

Mac OS X 10.4.11 or later, 512MB RAM minimum, 1GB or more recommended
PowerPC G4, G5, or Intel, 1.0GHz processor minimum
To prevent your files from being overwritten, Data Rescue 3 requires you to have a second hard drive to recover to.

Data Rescue 3 can scan a hard drive for the files you need but you will not be able to recover them to that same hard that is being scanned. The reason this is prevented is to ensure the safe recovery of your data. Rule number one of data recovery is to never recover the files to the same drive you are scanning as that can cause issues and puts your files in danger of being corrupted or overwritten. To prevent your files from being overwritten, Data Rescue 3 requires you to have a second hard drive to recover to.

2. You may run Data Rescue 3 from a secondary device
This is the method you would choose if you are trying to recover files from your Mac's main hard drive (the one that normally boots up your Mac).

Please Note Apple's current Boot DDK will not boot the following Macs:
* iMac Intel i3, i5, i7 Processor
* iMac Intel Core 2 Duo Processor (October 2009 and later)
* MacBook Pro Intel i5, i7 Processor
* MacBook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo (October 2009 and later)
* MacBook (June 2010 and later)
* Mac mini (June 2010 and later)
* Mac Pro Intel Xeon Nehalem or Westmere microarchitecture
* MacBook Air (Oct 2010 and later)

If you have one of the Macs listed above, then it is recommended that you use a method from the list below:

1. Booted from a secondary Mac
2. Booted from a secondary bootable hard drive
3. Booting from a USB thumb drive
4. Booted from the Data Rescue 3 Boot DVD
