Full sized external BluRay burner,
with USB 3 port. Uses the LG 16x burner. Compatible with both
Mac and PC. Mac users might want to buy Toast Titanium
so you can encode and burn BluRay movies. Can burn 25, 50GB
or 128GB BluRay, M-DISC, single or dual-layer DVDs, and CDs.
Notes for Apple Users:
- Apple's DVD Player only works with an internal optical
drive or Apple's external SuperDrive. To play DVDs with this
drive, you need the free VLC Player application.
- Apple's iLife software will support DVD and CD burning
with OS X 10.4.3 or later.
- Apple does not support playing back BluRay movies in the
OS at this time, so this unit will not play BluRay movies. Hopefully
someone will make a 3rd party application that does.
- No Apple software (iDVD nor DVD Studio Pro) encodes and
burns BluRay movies. To do this you need either Adobe Encore
or Toast 12 Titanium or later.
