DV Shop Observations
- Due to the weight of large camera batteries, you may be happier using
your shorter length batteries for the Microbeam, and keeping the large
batteries for the camera itself.
- The tungsten colour correction filter comes out too orange for our tastes.
Warming Filter is nicer.
- As with any LED light, we recommend using the included diffusion filter
to soften it up.
- Like any on-camera light, the Microbeam is more suited for closer distances
such as 4 - 8 feet. Do not expect to light a room with it like you would
a 1000w Red Head.
How it compares to LitePanels Micro:
- Brighter, more diffused and wider spread than LitePanels Micro
- Aluminum housing instead of plastic
- Takes prosumer DV batteries without buying an additional plate
- Mount system can support the weight of the DV batteries - Micro is iffy
on this regard
- Micro takes AA batteries, which Microbeam cannot
- 1/4" Screw hole on both top and bottom for more flexible mounting
options
